Outbound Call Security

Outbound call security should be important to any business as it protects you from the start. We are aware of a toll fraud known as traffic pumping. These schemes, based on outbound calls, direct calls to a high cost destination that the fraudster owns, such as a premium rate number (PRN) obtained from an international carrier or number reseller.

How do you protect me against outbound calls?

As a default precaution (which you can change) we block outbound calls to the following top ten high risk countries where this occurs;

The top 10 fraudulent destinations we see are:

  1. Latvia
  2. Lithuania
  3. Serbia
  4. Somalia
  5. Congo
  6. Pacific/Caribbean Islands
  7. Chad
  8. Gambia
  9. Sierra Leone
  10. Guinea

We also protect you against outbound calls to specific types of phone numbers that traditionally incur a higher end user cost. The table below highlights what types of phone numbers we filter;

Type Blocked
Fixed Line No
Mobile No
Tollfree No
Premium Rate Yes
Shared Cost Yes
VoIP No
Personal No
Pager No
UAN (Universal Access Numbers) No
Voicemail No
Unknown Yes

How do I change these settings?

All though we recommend you keep these settings, you can change them at any time.

On the left hand side of your account you will see a option called Outbound Settings.

Once in outbound settings on the right you will see Outbound Security.

Here you can change all the settings related to outbound dialling.
